Admissions

New Brunswick College of Craft & Design admission requirements vary depending on the program. You may need to consider the following components as part of your application.

High School students and/or recent graduates who do not possess any post-secondary education in the visual arts are required to apply directly to the 1st year - Certificate in Foundation Visual Arts (FVA) before acceptance can be granted into our Diploma programs.  An exception to this rule is made for individuals who wishes to apply for the Diploma in Aboriginal Visual Arts (AVA).  These applicants can follow the same process and prerequisites as those applying to the Certificate of Foundation Visual Arts (FVA).   Applicants can apply online at apply now and pay the processing fee of $25.00.  High school transcripts are required and applicants will be contacted as to where transcripts should be sent.  Applicants who wish to apply in person can do so at the College, 457 Queen Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick, E3B 5H1.

Mature students, whose background in the visual arts is equivalent to a Certificate in Foundation Visual Arts or greater, are welcome to apply directly into the Diploma and the Graduate Studies Program.  Applicants can apply online at apply now and pay the processing fee of $25.00. Educational transcripts and a portfolio (see below for content) are required. Once processed an interview will be scheduled.  Applicants who wish to apply in person can do so at the College, 457 Queen Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick, E3B 5H1. 

PortfolioApplicants (full-time or part-time) to the Diploma or Diploma of Graduate Studies programs are required to submit a portfolio of original artwork. This should include 10 examples of recent original work, presented in an 8.5x11 inch format.

Three-dimensional work should be photographed and presented as two-dimensional prints. Please do not include actual examples. If you are concerned about sending original artwork, high-quality colour reproductions may also be submitted.

For each item, please include a written description, a notation of the media used in producing the work, and the date of completion.

Be sure to carefully label your portfolio with your name, contact information, and return address.

Applicants will be notified when portfolio assessments are complete. Portfolios can be picked up at the College or returned via Canada Post.
